Pastor Gary Freimuth (Congregational Care)

The Covenant Church of Thomaston has been my church home for many years. I attended Sunday school and was confirmed here. I have served on many church boards and committees, including Vice-Chair of the Church, Chair of the Trustees, Chair of the Diaconate and, most recently, Chair of our 125th Anniversary committee in 2015-2016.

In 2012 I completed all the requirements of North Park Seminary and the Evangelical Covenant Church for my Bi-Vocational Pastor’s license and continue to complete the annual requirements to maintain this. For the past ten years I have served as the Assistant Pastor, in charge of Congregational Care and Men’s Ministry.

My greatest joy has been the creation and leading of our Men’s Ministry program, which serves the widows, widowers and elderly of our church on a monthly basis and meets weekly for a men’s Bible study.

I am also the “Pastor” (we already had a Chaplin) for the Northfield Volunteer Fire Company, where I have been a member for over 47 years. I perform nuptials, funerals, hospital visitations, and prayers when requested (even a service for the blessing of our new fire truck).

Away from church I have been blessed to have served on many Tres Dias, Kairos Outside, and Aventura teams for retreat/spiritual growth weekends. In 2010, while I was serving on a healing ministry team, my call to the ministry was powerfully confirmed.

I graduated Paier Collage of Art with honors, which led to working in the field of graphic design and fine arts.

I have been both president and sexton of the Northfield Cemetery, in the village of Northfield where I grew up and have lived my entire life, for almost 40 years.
